US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has announced that the Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF) will rise to reflect the current rate of inflation. The new rate will go into effect on October 1, 2020.
The MPF is assessed by U.S. Customs on most imports into the U.S. The calculation rate, which is 0.3464 percent of declared cargo value, will remain unchanged. However, the minimum MPF will increase to $27.23 and the maximum will increase to $528.33. For informal entries valued at less than $2,500, the MPF will increase to a set fee of $2.18.
