December 1, 2015—Leaders in the House and Senate are reported to have reached an agreement regarding “new long-term surface transportation in the form of a bicameral, bipartisan agreement Conference Report for the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act.”

The current federal surface transportation is going to expire on Dec. 4, making this news particularly timely. According to an article on logisticsmgmt(dot)com, the Act includes provisions for spending over 200 billion dollars on highway related projects and 48 million dollars on transit spending over a five year time frame.
